I Love DRAWING and You ?

Welcome to my site
I really enjoy drawing. I'm learning and improving the techniques around human figures and expression drawing. I'm also interested in the process of taking paper skteches to digital for post to create graphic novels. I created this blog to share my experiements. I'm also open to be involved in other blogs and forum related to digital arts and all possible applications.

Summertime (Elli's waiting)

Saturday morning lights were high.
She was waiting outside the club.
"He told me he would have come" she thought.
People was curious about her as  she casted glances around looking for him.
She knew a young pretty girl should not wait too long in the streets and a subtle edginess was coming up in her mind.
She felt she was doing wrong being there but she liked.

Time was passing by and although nothing good was happening that morning she decided to stay another while even though probably she knew it was too late anyway to wait for another sudden change.

Inspiration for this drawing came in three ways:
1. An idea of how a girl friend of mine looked when I was young or maybe I wanted her to look.
2. A painting from Edward Hopper called "Summertime" in 1943. In that painting he played with two concepts: "conceal" and "reveal". "Nascondere" e "Rivelare". I think they are appropriate.
3. My passion for comics and Milo Manara although he pushes the sex appeal too far than I'm able to draw.

Summer sketch

Here the point is. I did the sketch on paper. I scanned it. I coloured it. Ok. But you see there the rough lines ? How can I remove them ? And.... I would like to do that on paper ... Should I trace the original on a new paper ?Any suggestion on this passage from anybody out there ?

Zig Zag

I continue to be interested in drawing female bodies. I hope you don't mind if some of them are rather undressed, but the point is that if you want to learn drawing it's from there you have to start... The sketches I did on paper have been later scanned and coloured. I found very useful the suggestions and hints you can find on some books such as the one from the Society for the study of Manga Techniques.

Asia is sailing

Asia is sailing. Originally this was a normal picture shot on my brother's boat to his daughter. Then later I took the picture as a sample and I sketched with my set of pencils on normal paper. This step has been done without any "tecnological" support. On the sketch I used all my techniques to to recreate at my best the grades of shading on the skin. Then recently I inported my drawing in Photoshop and I applied a filter (sponge) just to give the drawing a new feeling. The result has been coloured as usual by creating multiple layers one for each color and tonality for the skin according to melissa clifton tutorial. Here's the result hope you like.

Alice Island

Last summer I took with me at the seaside in Sardinia my sketchbook and between a swim and a sand castle I roughly sketched the lines you see here taking some inspiration by looking around. Then I worked it out at home to finalize the lines at least until I liked enough and finally (after months) scanned and coloured with Photoshop and my Wacom Tablet. The background is inspired by Jack Vettriano works but not copied.

Studio

I have no particular to say about this last draw that for the first time I created on a 50 by 20 cm paper. Pencil first and black ink later. Then I scanned it in two passes as the draw was too big for my scanner. After that I applied the colours by first separating the blacks on its own layer.
